The objective of this build was to restore a 1931 Ford Tudor to original specs and appearance with all original steel parts so that the car would be easily recognized as a dignified and beautifully restored coach with the best that Henry Ford had to offer at the time; at least on the outside. The body, fenders, running boards, windows, bumpers, headlights and taillights, turn signals, radiator shell and temperature gauge, windshield wipers, door and windows handles; even the flag mount on the bumper are all original Ford parts. The car looks like a nicely restored '31 Ford Touring car.
The original Model A frame was replaced by aHeists unit that supports rack and pinion steering and independent coil-over suspension with fabricated control arms and disc-brakes. The wheels and tires are obviously aftermarket units but still add to the dignity and class of this carefully restored classic.The pictures should reveal how carefully and completely the restoration was completed and how carefully the parts were chosen for the project.The car has been driven around 1,400 miles, mostly cruises and parades, and has won acclaim everywhere it has been shown.
The engine is a newly blueprinted Chevy small block 383 stroker which was tuned for powerful street performance and more whenever desired. The 400 turbohydro automatic transmission makes driving much more pleasant. The lake pipes are real as is the spare tire on the rear bumper. The large, high performance Ford differential assures a stable rear suspension and great high performance traction.
Inside, the interior is covered with custom burgundy and gray leather from top to bottom. The car has cold air-conditioning and all the window and door openers work like new. The entire car is as clean as when the build was finished.
